Outage Today

We are experiencing some database issues today and are working to resolve them. Please bear with us.

Monday: We’re back online! Thanks to Aaron at EA for resolving the issue. I’ve reset all of the game timers.

war has no downtime! i’m about ready to march on over to gjaddis’s house as a trooper and capture his base.

Ooh noes, already more than 12 hours… I’m starting to shake… out of curiousity, does down time like this stop the clock on all games so people don’t end up over time on their turns?

    cheers, EG

  7. Posted December 16, 2011 at 05:20 | Permalink

I don’t think it does stop the clock.. it’s boot-city once things resume!

Glad to know you’re on the case Spade. I dread the day where the gears just grind to a halt altogether. That’ll be a sad day.

The “team” you’re referring to is actually just one guy, spadequack aka Ryan. May the force be with him.

i worry…while we wait…that InspectorHound is plotting against my people and conspiring towards our downfall and things of that nature

InspectorHound came by my desk yesterday afternoon muttering a bunch of gibberish about “the downfall” and “gjaddis.” I didn’t think much of it at the time, but now it all makes sense…. horrible horrible sense.

The only good thing about Weewar being down is that it gives me some great comments like this to chuckle over.

      • Posted December 16, 2011 at 20:17 | Permalink

If the inevitable *does* happen, where are we all going to meet to figure out our next game? Should we all sign up on darkbee’s forum and make a thread or something?

      • Posted December 16, 2011 at 21:01 | Permalink

I guess Daithi is pushing for the community to come together and create an open source Weewar clone:
        http://openwar.aplayerofgames.com/

It’s early days yet though. I was planning on setting up a new Weewar community site but I ran into some technical difficulties with my host (that they’ve proven to be very ineffectual at resolving) and now Daithi has created the above site, it might seem a little redundant.

Is this the beginning of the end? Or the end of the beginning? The last rays of sunlight, flickering through the trees? Will cold, fell winter roar its harsh, frosty breath upon us all, snuffing out life, light, hope and weewar?

I joined, thanks for the head’s up. The gears seem to be grinding to a halt. I am pretty sad about it but, considering some of the recent forum talk, it is not a surprise.

Starting to gnaw on my knuckles…

I think it’s past the oiling the gears point by now and into the realm of stripped cogs?

I am really hoping Ryan / SpadeQuack can pull the spanner out of the Weewar works… as I’m sure we all are.

Like Thuldai said, “May the force be with him!”

thanks again Ryan! i little down time never hurt anyone.

it’s likely we could all use a break from the game to evaluate just how addicted to the game we are.

as for myself, i have finally stopped waking up the middle of the night worrying about what dpilgrim is plotting while i sleep.

but just to clarify…i am totally dependent on this game and would rather not fathom life without

This is bad. I dreamt last night that weewar was back up, but it’s not. I’m halucinating! Yikes! I’m going crazy!

  26. Posted December 19, 2011 at 16:47 | Permalink

    Or is Weewar done?

  27. Posted December 19, 2011 at 22:08 | Permalink

Perhaps I’m an optimist, but I think it is a bit premature to start asking if Weewar is gone. Considering how big EA is it is totally reasonable that the simplest fixes, even something like restarting a database, could be hard to do. This is especially tough because Ryan isn’t on site.
