Team Play is coming to Weewar

Team play on Weewar

The new feature will allow players to set up teams at any time during a game. Players can then apply to join an existing team or create their own. All the necessary controls are available from the in game options menu. A player’s team affiliation is indicated by the team letter next to their name. A capital “B” for example means, that the player is a member of team B. A lowercase “b” means that the player has applied for team B but has not been accepted yet.

Units do not exert zone of control (where units can not move freely in the vicinity of other units) over friendly units nor can they attack them. Team members do also loose and gain points together when a player is defeated in a rated game.

We are very excited about this new feature and can’t wait to see the first teams in the wild!

The update is scheduled for 6pm CET (see it in your time zone…)

What are the little white flags that are next to some of the names listed in the game interface now?

I have one next to me in this game:

    But I haven’t surrendered.

@adam: The flag indicates that you are offering peace in that game. If you remove the peace offer the flag will disappear.

    @all: Thanks everybody!

@jpn5000: I’ll get back to you regarding the ELIZA api.

Hmm.. how about people that backstab? Like they’re in your team, but when it comes to their turn, they quit the team and start attacking you without notice? How about a 1 turn delay or the whole team agreeing before a member can leave? Or a lock teams function where you can set the teams beforehand and they can’t be changed afterward. But still, awesome. Been testing this on test.weewar and looking forward to some real games involving it in serious battles (versus peculiar battles orchestrated for testing purposes).

Otherwise… When are the new/modded units coming out? :-) I really think the helicopter needs some strengthening against subs cause it took me 3 helis to kill a sub in two turns. And this was from optimal angles.

Awesome work, already using the teams feature in the games I’ve got going.

One quick suggestion for additional functionality which is found in RTS’s – The ability to “give” resources to other members in your team. I know I could use a “loan” when my bases are under assault and the bank is empty!

Please give us the unit “Capturing troop” when creating maps
So we can balance the maps better.

IE blue starts with “capturing troop”
    Red starts with a base.

Teams are cool, here are some suggested team features:

    1. Private team chat.

    2. Turn over assets, teammates should be able to turn over bases, units
    or credits to their teammates.

    3. Surrender to teammate, a teammate that has to leave a game should be able to surrender everything to another teammate.

    A non-team feaure request:

    1. Repair remaining units. – When I am done moving for a turn and have a lot of units on the battlefield, I would like to hit one button and have it repair all remaining repairable units.

Adam, there is a Greasemonkey script for Firefox that autorepairs all units. Check the forum under Tools.

Can we get an update or something on the outage? You’re redirecting to a blog with old news on it, It would be good to get some kind of ingfo on what’s going on.

I agree with fn0000rd. If we are redirected to a blog, which has news around a month old… what good is that? That is not very good service. Remember… a lot of us are paying customers that have tried to get in to the service we are paying for yesterday and today and have been told we could not.

This team-play is so stupid. Often when I am going to win, opponents join to teams..
teams should be determined at start of game and not later…
Are you going change it in future?

Nothing stupid with that. That’s life. They would play against even without teams. Locking teams would render some maps unplayable.

I agree with Antipop. The way team play is set up, you can choose whether to play with pre-defined teams or to let them be fluid (or ban them in a ffa game). Hopefully, if you play with honest opponents, you can all agree in advance what will be allowed. Personally, I appreciate that flexibility.
